Mission:
To provide
locally acclaimed means to promote
the activities of marine
professionals sponsored by the Royal
Institution of Naval Architecture
(RINA) and the Institute of Marine
Engineering, Science and Technology
(IMarEST).
Purposes:
- To enable Naval
Architects, Marine Engineers,
Marine Scientists and Marine
Technologists to meet and to
correspond; to facilitate the
interchange of ideas
respecting improvements in
naval architecture, and
marine engineering, science
and technology; and to
communicate information on
such subjects.
- To uphold the status
of members of RINA and the
IMarEST by conducting
assessments for candidates
for election and by requiring
standards of knowledge and
experience which can be
approved.
- To co-operate with
industry, educational
establishments and other
public bodies for the
furtherance of education,
research and the development
of naval architecture and
marine engineering, science
and technology.
- To make gifts or
contributions for educational
or charitable purposes.
Objectives:
- To promote and serve
the interests of its members.
- To promote and
enhance the reputation of
maritime professionals.
- To encourage and
assist the development of
Young Marine Professionals
(YMP).
- To support
educational programmes in
maritime science, technology
and engineering delivered in
schools and colleges.
- To be the single
point for information and
advice on practically every
aspect of science,
engineering and technology
within the maritime sector.
- To increase the
membership of the Devon and
Cornwall Joint Branch of RINA
and IMarEST.
